Research

With an approach of ‘connecting challenges to boardrooms’, for over twenty years we’ve conducted research either online or face to face, on national and international projects.

We’ve interviewed some fascinating people inc neuroscientists, economists, athletes, journalists, academics, soldiers, activists & policy-makers, alongside consumer groups across the demographic spectrum.

The insights gained are then developed via in-depth desk research and analysis, before moving into foresight / strategy / innovation activity, etc.

The case histories below illuminate #NowNextWhy work ranging from the lived experience to scenario planning.

Health

In the wellbeing market, the amount of innovation taking place is staggering, increasingly holistic and offered on a multi-sector approach to physical and mental health.

The central focus of all this is driven by a key structural shift - from cure to prevention, where ‘powerless masses’ are being remodelled as ‘empowered individuals’ and involves tech progress in area such as AI, ML & AR. Meanwhile, a great deal of innovation in the area is being driven by consumer desires relating to their treatment by brands in other sectors.

One of the clients who whom we’ve run multiple projects is AXA, for whom we conducted trend research and positioning work alongside seriously impactful ethnographic interviews, which assisted their agencies and brand teams gain core ‘voice of customer’ insights.

Future Cities & Homes

We’re fascinated by the ‘cities of today and tomorrow’ and have conducted dynamic research regarding the macro/micro tension points affecting people living, working and visiting them.

Our research into this overall area includes illuminating the ‘here and now’ in addition to trend research and scenario planning. (Sean has also given numerous speeches and written about these issues, including covering the subject in both of his books).

Case history includes work for developers & architects who specialise in unlocking the hidden potential of the built environment, for whom we’ve conducted research regarding future homes and fuure workplaces...

Hospitality

We’ve conducted research for clients in the hospitality sector for many years, where the range of trends and issues covered ranges from food & beverage, to interior design, service standards, business centres, gyms & spas, event management, etc.

We’ve done so for client projects focusing on sectors ranging from the Five-Star to Budget market, and everything in between, on a national & international / mainstream to leading-edge basis.

Examples include the launch strategy of an upmarket four-star group to the individual relaunch of a ‘jewel in the crown’ of the UK’s second city. (The locals naturally insist it’s actually the first…) Our specific multiple-project work has inc international trend research, expert interviews, B2C ethnographic activity, B2B trade insights, multiple-agency liaison etc.
